At the age of 52 and after many years of learning Michael Binz decided to open up his own business. He had started out as coachmaker at Daimler-Benz and worked as foreman and factory manager in various other companies. He specialized in building convertibles. In 1934 he established the standard production of convertibles for Baur / Stuttgart.

One event in his early years while still with Daimler Benz is significant for him and his creative mind. Without this BINZ could have hardly become the European market leader in this branch of industry.
